This is a poster dedicated to Kanye West's album “808s & Heartbreak.” This was one of my favorite albums growing up. My favorite songs off the album are “Paranoid,” “Love Lockdown,” “Bad News,” “Amazing,” and “Heartless.” On “Paranoid” Kanye sings about being in a serious relationship with a lady that pushes him away due to her mistrustful thinking, whom he believes "worries about the wrong things" instead of living the moment and enjoying the life they have together. On “Love Lockdown” Kanye discusses the after effects of a failed romantic relationship, and demonstrates trying to make the decision between staying and going. He suggests to "keep your love locked down" and protecting your heart, while also portraying his struggle to properly show love. On “Bad News,” Kanye expresses the disappointment and heartbreak that comes with discovering someone you care about is being unfaithful. In the first verse, Kanye sings about how he was waiting for a dream that would never come true, implying that he had high hopes for his relationship. However, upon hearing the news about his partner's infidelity, he becomes despondent and feels as though his emotions have turned to stone. The song “Amazing” is mostly centered around Kanye West's success, strong personality, and self-confidence. The lyrics convey how Kanye West is on top of his game, and he knows it. The song is about his reign as a successful musician and artist, and how he has worked tirelessly to create a name for himself. Kanye states that he's exhausted and barely breathing, but still holds onto what he believes in. He claims that his reign as a successful artist will never be taken away from him, no matter the circumstances, and I feel like this is more prevalent today than it was in 2008 when this song first came out. On “Heartless” he reflects on breaking up with his ex. Kanye expresses honesty and self-pity on the chorus, stating "The coldest story ever told, Somewhere far along this road he lost his soul, To a woman so heartless". Kanye also angrily asks "How could you be so heartless?" Self-doubt is expressed on the song by stating, despite having "homies" he is ultimately "still so lonely". Kanye goes on to shed light on the post-breakup phase, assuming that his ex will realize she is never going to find anybody better than him after two months. Ultimately, this album is without a doubt one of the most influential albums to ever exist in the music industry, inspiring artists and revolutionizing the music world especially for rap and r&b songs. This album marked the creation of modern Hip Hop sub genres like melodic rap, emo rap, psychedelic trap, modern r&b, etc. Many people credit this album for making autotune mainstream, and inspiring the careers of artist such as Travis Scott, Juice Wrld, Lil Uzi Vert, and Drake.
